why people hate advertising

View it as a job, not a calling. Care a lot but very little at the same time.

The issue is that when you first step into a job in advertising, you're enamoured by the glitz and glam. Then 8 years into the job, you realise that it's all a facade, and we place so much self-importance on things that are essentially minute and pointless like ads for diapers or tampons. It's hard to derive fulfilment from a job like that.
