I love the concept of ikigai, and I feel it's so easy to tell yourself stories you have already decided to hear. To break that pattern, you will have to take some external help. I came across this interview of Rudi Anggono who was the Global Creative Director of Google and now work with Lego.
On being asked what is the most constructive feedback he has ever received he told about an incident where his manager introduced him to the concept of ikigai.
- When you and I planned the trip together, what is it that you liked about it? Do not filter anything.
- When you and I work on that project for HBO, what was it that you liked about it?
Then you collect the data and find the common thread. It's incredible what people say about you, what they like, and that is your superpower!!!
