building a knowledge portfolio

What is the term "Knowledge Portfolio"?

I read an article in Polymath Investor where he talks about note-taking and research, and how to set goals in research and when to understand the sunken cost fallacy, when to stop a research, how to award yourself, how to basically build your own knowledge portfolio.

There he talks about the diversity and how it pays off in unexpected ways, how ideas from one project will inform another, and one gets to develop a personal universe of interconnected insights that no one else in this entire world has in quite the same combination.

And honestly, I also feel like this is the ultimate reward for a serious independent researcher.

I love the line with which he concludes, "A mind richly furnished with understanding earned by curiosity and craft over years."
