biometrics data used in embodied performance

This was an immersive performance I saw on the internet and commented on in the LinkedIn post. What is the exact intention behind creating this?
Sometimes I feel people just use random data, possibly extractable (be it through biometrics or some frequency of some natural phenomena), and then use it randomly to generate some random visuals. They just put it on a large screen and then call it an amazing immersive performance. I don't get the point of that.
